Mosaic Gallery

All our design work and fabrication are done right in our shop by us, Jim and Holly Cutting.  For our mosaics we use diamond blades to cut each piece individually from stone, slates, and tiles.  All the different shades of color in the natural stones and slates give character to the piece and make each unique from one another.  Most of the brown colored stones and light colored quartzite we use are native Montana stones.  Our mosaics are done in a 'pietra dura' style, which is a type of hard stone inlay.

Our gallery contains items that were mostly custom orders. Each was used as an architectural art piece in a variety of ways, such as flooring designs, inlaid into table tops, wall decorations, shower stalls, hearth accents, fireplace fronts, stove pads for under gas or wood stoves, on back-splashes, on signs and a host of other applications.  Where you can put tile or stone, usually you can put our mosaics.

We start with a design, prepare a base, cut the stones, thinset pieces  in place, grout the joints, wash and then seal the project.

You might see some mosaics that have incorporated a painted tile or stone in with it.  See other painted tiles and stone in our Painted Gallery .   We also have mosaics that are used on table tops in our Tables Gallery .

Bears, Bison and Birds.

Elk, deer, moose and horses.

Fish, misc critters and other fun stuff.
